Coming to Chippewa Falls on May 21
(Chippewa Falls) – The first FightingBobFestNorth has been set for Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds in Chippewa Falls, rain or shine. “FightingBobFest” is a forum for progressives to gather and inspire each other in the tradition of Wisconsin’s pioneering activist “Fighting Bob” LaFollette. The parent event has taken place in Baraboo for the past nine years and will move to Madison in 2011.
FightingBobFestNorth was motivated by the late Senator Paul Wellstone’s charge to Ed Garvey, founder of the original FightingBobFest, to “do this more than once a year and in different locations.”
As former Senator Russ Feingold has made clear since last November’s election, the Progressive movement must regenerate itself and address today’s critical problems. The FightingBobFest theme of “Money and Democracy” will be the subject of speakers who will share information, ideas, opinions and motivation to continue fighting the threats to our freedom and justice when elections and campaigns are bought and sold.
In keeping with the desire to mix politics with a good time, FightingBobFestNorth will include outstanding local food, regional beers, music and an Upper Midwest attitude. It will be held at the accessible and accommodating Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds which is located near countless other attractions for those who wish to make it a full weekend of travel and fun.
Along with the speeches and music on the main stage, there will be exhibit booths allowing attendees to network and learn about the wide variety of progressive and educational causes and organizations.
FightingBobFestNorth is open to all, with a tax deductible suggested donation registration of $20 but all donations are welcome. Updates on speakers, performers, vendor and booth opportunities as well as driving directions can be found online at fightingbobfestnorth.org and on our Facebook page and Twitter updates.

The battle for Wisconsin's soul starts Monday!
The battle for Wisconsin's soul starts Monday! - The forces of darkness: Mike Grebe, Charlie Sykes, Scott Walker, Family Fitzgerald, and governor Talker have declared war on our history, our citizens, our values. (A sampler--eliminate any tax deduction for stem cell research; kill all public unions, eliminate same day registration for voting; kill public funding of elctions;--I'm not making this up--
As early as tomorrow, Gov. Walker will announce his budget repair plans that will be rubber-stamped by the mean-spirited troops in the Legislature.
Under the banner "I am not kidding" Walker will eliminate all positive aspects of Wisconsin's Family Leave Act and then next week announce that they will kill the public employee unions; kill public pensions; make deep cuts in local aid, schools, etc.
Walker won't even tell Dems in the Legislature what he has in mind so how would you know what is happeningnot to mntion input in the process. No discussions, no hearings, just batten down the hatches.
An immediate response Monday--Valentine's Day--Milwaukee at 11:30 in the morning--presentation of the "Heartless" award. see you at 819 James Lovell St.--state office building.
Get ready for strong response to this divisive and destructive attack. We want to remain Wisconsin not Mississippi! [Fighting Bob]
