The event will present live music by popular local bands: The Jones Tones, a band known for their spirited blend of rock and foot-tapping American blues and the Evergreen Grass Band, a string band who combines traditional Americana with other contemporary music styles into an energetic blend of bluegrass. Progressive advocate Ed Garvey, the founder of Fighting Bob Fest, will MC the event. A charcoal chicken and barbeque pork dinner featuring regionally-raised meats will be available for additional purchase, as well as locally brewed beer on tap. Tickets may be obtained in advance by emailing info@fightingbobfestnorth.org . Tickets will also be sold at the door. Recommended ticket donation is $10. Dinner tickets may also be purchased for $10 in advance. A limited number of dinner tickets will be available at the door for $12.

This event promises an afternoon of entertainment and community-building, bringing together exciting music, hand-crafted food, progressive voices, and fun-loving people from Northern and Central Wisconsin and Minnesota. The choice of the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds, conveniently situated between north and south, east and west, reflects this cooperative spirit. These historic fairgrounds have ample parking and comfortable seating, rain or shine, and provide adjacent access to delightful Irvine Park in Chippewa Falls. Fighting Bob Fest Northfest is the first of two related events that will offer a regional forum for creative progressive solutions to issues facing Wisconsin, Minnesota, and the nation. This first event will lay the groundwork and seek input for a larger second festival, Fighting Bob Fest North, to be held at the same time and place in Spring 2011. Fighting Bob Fest North will be a day-long Chautauqua-style gathering of speakers and entertainment focusing on the theme of “Money and Democracy.” Inspired by Fighting Bob Fest, the nationally-acclaimed event held yearly in Baraboo, Wisconsin, both events aim to promote an optimistic exchange of ideas that will encourage citizen participation and support constructive calls to action.
